SAKADA SUSHI TERIYAKI RESTAURANT

Pickering's not a very exciting place to look for food. In fact, Pickering's not a very exciting place at all. But the discovery of this new Japanese restaurant might be an exception to the previous statements, because this restaurant, located in a small plaza, is probably one of the best Pickering restaurants I've ever visited. Pickering isn't known for Asian food, so this discovery was a very pleasant surprise.

Miso Soup. Not bad, but a bit bland. I usually complain about excessively salty foods, however, this time, I felt that the soup was not salty enough.

Teriyaki Salmon. It's not bad. I can't say any more about it though; I only had one tiny bite. It isn't boneless, but it isn't bad.

Stir-fried Chicken Udon. I've probably tried a million and a half different kinds of udon before, but this definitely one of the best I've had. The seasoning is very simple; it's a light teriyaki/soy based sauce with a little bit of black pepper. Even so, this is of the best udon dishes I've ever eaten.

Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box with Shrimp Tempura, Spring Rolls, Salad, and Rice. Yes, it's not 100% authentic Japanese food, due to the spring rolls (which are generally considered as Chinese food). Does it matter? No. The food tastes good, and the servings are generous.

These California Rolls and Salmon Sashimi came with the Bento Box combo. Again, I was surprised, but this time, by their sashimi. It's the softest, most buttery cut of salmon I've had in a long time. I have never found sashimi this great in downtown Toronto, and yet, I found it in Pickering, a tiny city with only 94,000 people.

In conclusion, I can say that this surprising little Japanese restaurant in a tiny Pickering plaza is the most exciting food discovery I've had this summer... This sushi place's sashimi can outshine other popular sushi restaurants, namely: Makimono, Aji Sai, and Wasabi. That's all, folks.
